UK logistics operator Knowles Logistics has placed its first order with SDC for 15 EN XL curtainsider semi-trailers for food and fast-moving consumer goods transport. The purchase takes its trailer fleet to 253, supporting a nationwide operation with around 130 tractor units.
The order followed an initial trial and driver feedback, linking the purchasing decision to an assessment of the equipment in use. For a fleet serving a national network, that process can help establish whether new trailers suit day-to-day operating requirements before a wider commitment.

The immediate operational significance is the additional trailer availability. A larger trailer pool can give planners more flexibility to allocate equipment across food and consumer goods movements, particularly when trailers and tractor units are needed at different stages of a transport cycle. Whether the purchase improves utilisation or service performance will depend on how the trailers are deployed and the workload they support.
The first SDC order also introduces a new purchasing relationship for Knowles Logistics. The trial and driver input provide context for that choice, but the order alone does not establish a longer-term change in supplier strategy. Performance in regular service and any subsequent orders will offer a clearer indication of SDC's future role in the fleet.
